Ramsey’s Sheet Metal has been providing high-quality, custom metal fabrication throughout Northwest Indiana and beyond for over 100 years. Founded in 1923 as F.D. Ramsey & Company, we offer a wide variety of metal products and applications, along with industrial maintenance and repair services. Our customer base has grown to include industrial, commercial, and residential clients. As your local sheet metal experts, we are well-suited to handle any metal fabrication need you may have.
The business has changed a lot over the years, but we have always remained a close-knit team of highly skilled fabricators, dedicated to creating the finest metal products available. Owner Aaron Cleek joined Ramsey’s Sheet Metal in 2011 as a pre apprentice and worked his way through the Sheet Metal Workers Local 20 Gary Area apprenticeship program until topping out as a journeyman in 2017. When Aaron was presented with an opportunity to become part owner of the company in 2021, he took the opportunity and has never looked back. In 2025 he is now the full owner/ operator and couldn’t be more blessed and grateful for the chances hes been given by his predecessor and all the support staff he has with him. Aaron looks forward to the future of the company and its growth.
Ramsey’s Tin Man, a custom metal sculpture on top of our building, has been an icon in the La Porte area for many years, reminding residents of our long-standing commitment to the region. Constructed for an expo in the 1940’s, the sculpture was added to the roof of our original location on Washington Street and remained there until the company relocated in 1984. In 2019, with the company’s 100th anniversary approaching, team members decided to revive the Tin Man, and a new version was constructed in time for La Porte’s Fourth of July parade. In 2021, the new Tin Man was attached to the roof and remains as a proud example of the work our company does.
Ramsey’s Sheet Metal has also assisted the local Heston Steam Museum by donating labor for the creation of a vertical boiler exhibit along with many other projects through the years. We are proud to use our metal fabrication skills to benefit our community, and we would be honored to complete your next metal project, too.
